MIL-STD-704 is an Aircraft Electrical Power Military Standard that defines a standardized power interface between a military aircraft and its equipment. The purpose of this standard is to ensure compatibility between the aircraft power system (including external power) and the utilization equipment (with connected power supplies). A power supply running directly from a generator, or its AC/DC rectifier must be able to handle the various transients from these “dirty” power sources.

To clarify MIL-STD-704 further, MIL-HDBK-704-1 was written for various power types to delineate specific testing to ensure compliance with the standard. Seven specific power types are defined in the MIL-STD-704 standard based on the power type:
• 115Vac at 400 Hz (single-phase)
• 115Vac at 400 Hz (three-phase))
• 115Vac variable frequency (360- to 800 Hz)
• 115VAC at 60 Hz (single-phase)
• 28 volts (DC systems)
• 270 volts (DC systems)

Power systems compliant with MIL-STD-704 must be able to operate in specification with numerous other disturbances such as input frequency modulation, voltage transients, and possible phase reversals from incorrect installation. For DC sources, both 28V and 270V, must operate through steady-state voltage ranges with certain maximum output ripple amplitude and distortion factor, even surviving the reverse polarity of the input.
MIL-STD-704 also defines six distinct operating conditions for the electrical system. The power supply specification must define the performance criteria for each of the operating conditions:
1. Normal electrical power – system operates in normal input range
2. Power transfers – system must operate through switch bounces during power transfers
3. Abnormal electrical power – system must operate through temporary transients
4. Emergency electrical power – system must run with diminished output during more severe transients
5. Engine starting – system may need to run during engine cranking
6. Power failure – system must restart properly after power cycling with diverse frequency

In addition, our networking solutions are equipped with internal DC-DC and AC-DC power supplies that support the MIL-STD704 standard requirement and make them the best choice for installation on a military tactical platform.
Product offering:

AC/DC: M2705
DC/DC: M7019, M7525
PDU: M4054, M9538

The M2705 military power supply is a rugged 3-phase AC to DC converter, accepts a 115VAC input range from 103 to 125VAC, 400Hz and provides a single DC output of 270V, up to 1500W, with custom outputs available. It is designed to meet military standards, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461. This unit is sealed to protect against fluids, with a breather valve for condensation exhaust. M2705 is based upon field-proven M2703, with a front end that provides a lagging power factor and additional hold circuity.

The M7019 military power supply is a rugged DC to DC converter which accepts an 18 - 48VDC input voltage range and provides a single DC output from 3.3 to 56V at up to 100W. Custom outputs are available upon request and the unit is designed to meet military standards MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.

The M7525 military power supply is a rugged DC to DC converter which accepts an 18 - 48VDC input voltage range and provides a single DC output from 3.3 to 50V at up to 800W. Custom outputs are available upon request and the unit is designed to meet military standards MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.

The M4054 is a rugged, highly efficient, SOSA™ aligned, military-grade 3U VPX, 1" pitch, 28V DC to DC PSU card that provides 12V and 3.3VAUX per VITA 62 and is capable of delivering up to 768W of output power. Features include conduction cooling, current sharing, fast initialization, reverse battery protection, internal EMI filters and VITA 46.11 system management. The DC input range is 18-50V per MIL-STD-704 and DO-160, but variants support ranges of 12-100V per MIL-STD-1275 and Def Stan 61-5, part 6. The M4054 is field-proven and is designed to meet MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461.

The M9538 is an 8-channel managed power distribution unit designed for airborne applications. It distributes 28VDC through overload and short-circuit protected switches. The M9538 supports Ethernet communications to control and configure Ethernet Interfaces (Static & Dynamic IP configurations), 3 Discrete inputs (DCI, RAT, WP) and 1 Discrete output (Trip error output). This power management solution has a large capacitance charge capability and sources a universal input connector to handle 100 amps. Complies with MIL-STD-704F, DO-160G and EN2282.

In addition, our networking solutions are equipped with internal DC/DC power supplies that comply with the MIL-STD-704 standards.

The MILTECH 918 is an 8 port Gigabit Ethernet switch that can be remotely managed to deliver Layer 2 switching to optimize on-vehicle communications traffic prioritization between IP-based devices such as communication and navigation systems, sensors, video cameras and targeting systems.

The MILTECH 9012 is a 12 port small form factor military gigabit Ethernet router specifically designed for battlefield C4ISR, voice, video, sensor data acquisition, and communications in platforms that require LAN/WAN connectivity. It features both L2/L3 network switching and routing capabilities,
