VPX VITA 46 & SOSA™-Aligned Solutions

VITA VPX Background

VITA VPX (VITA 46) is a high-performance embedded computing standard defining rugged 3U and 6U modules with multi-gigabit serial interconnects such as PCIe and Ethernet.

It replaces parallel VME signalling with high-speed differential pairs through advanced connectors rated up to 25 Gbps.

The OpenVPX (VITA 65) framework specifies slot profiles and backplane topologies to ensure interoperability across vendors and system architectures.

SOSA (Sensor Open System Architecture) refines and constrains the broad VPX/OpenVPX ecosystem by specifying standardized slot profiles, backplane interfaces, data plane protocols, and management layer (IPMI 46.11).

Enercon’s Networking VPX product line

Our fully managed L2/L3 VPX networking modules are built on the VITA 46/65 and SOSA standards, delivering reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity for mission-critical embedded systems.

Designed for 3U and 6U VPX architectures, they feature multiple highly flexible and scalable Ethernet connectivity (1G/10G/25G/100G) supporting various protocols (SGMII/1000Base-KX/KR/KR4 and more), ensuring system interoperability at highest throughput data exchange.

High bandwidth (40G/100G) F/O interconnect is offered on the modules front panel for supporting optional system uplink interfaces (with backplane VITA66 compliant variations as well).

Engineered for rugged defense, aerospace harsh environments, our modules support conduction cooling and maintain full OpenVPX and SOSA interoperability for seamless integration into modern high-performance computing platforms.
